Low Friction, Non-stick and Weather Resistances
Low Friction

Fluoropolymers have a low friction coefficient and excellent self-lubricity.
The coefficient of kinetic friction of Fluon® are listed below.

Coefficient of kinetic friction of Fluon®

  Fluon®PTFE Fluon®PFA Fluon®ETFE
Coefficient of kinetic friction 0.11 0.2 0.5

Non-stick

Fluoropolymers' non-stick properties have led to their well known use in cookware coatings. Any adhesive substances cannot adhere to their surfaces since the water contact angle of fluoropolymers is 100°C - 115°C.
Fluoropolymers have increased resistance to cold compared to common plastics.

Weather Resistance

In an outdoor environment fluoropolymers are exposed to conditions which could lead to photolysis, photo-oxidation as well as expansion or contraction if subjected to changes in temperature. Fluoropolymers resist change or deterioration very well in such severe environments.
